Overview

Meme Index is a free ticker registry for pump.fun coins. Paste a coin’s CA, type its ticker and claim it. The first claim owns that ticker until the weekly reset.

While a ticker is held, any coin with the same ticker or a variation of it gets turned away, so a vamp has no ticker to stand on. Only the ticker counts, not the coin’s name. The whole book is public and updates live.

Claiming a ticker

A claim goes through these checks, in order. Fail one and nothing is written.

  1. The CA has to be a pump.fun coin. We read its bonding curve on chain and take the dev wallet from it.
  2. The ticker you type has to match the coin’s real ticker. Case and $ don’t matter.
  3. The ticker has to be free: no claim this week can match it (see What counts as a copy).
  4. The coin has to be under 24 hours old.
  5. The claim lands in this week’s book with the next line number. It’s on the board for everyone right away.

Who can claim

Anyone. Paste any pump.fun CA, type its ticker and claim it: no wallet connect, no sign-up, no code.

The ticker belongs to the coin, not to whoever clicked. Claiming for a coin you hold protects its ticker just the same.

What counts as a copy

Every ticker boils down to a root. Two tickers clash when their roots match or sit too close:

  • Only the ticker counts. The coin’s name doesn’t matter.
  • Case, spaces, $ and symbols don’t matter: PEPE, $pepe and Pe-pe are one ticker.
  • Numbers and versions are stripped: PEPE2, PEPE420, PEPEV2.
  • Vamp add-ons are stripped: CASHBACK, FEES, CHARITY, AI, CTO, BABY, REAL, OG, COIN…
  • Lookalikes count: P3PE, PÉPÉ, PEEEPE.
  • One letter off (5+ letters) or a letter or two added counts.

Fresh coins only

A coin can only claim while it’s under 24 hours old. Old coins can’t be dug up to squat tickers they never used.

A coin that missed its first day can’t claim that week, but it can still trade like any other coin.

Dead coins lose the ticker

Every 15 minutes the index reads the market cap of every claimed coin.

A coin under $3k gets a “Frees in” countdown on its row. If it stays under $3k for 24 hours straight, its line comes out of the book and the ticker is free for the next coin. One reading back over $3k stops the countdown.

Freed tickers show up in the Freed up card on the home page.

Weekly reset

The book resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC. Every ticker frees up at once and the race starts again. The clock in the top bar counts down to it.

Turned away

When a coin tries a ticker that’s already held, by claiming it or by looking it up, it shows in the Turned away feed with the ticker it tried to copy.

Where the data comes from

  • Coin, ticker and dev wallet: read on chain from the pump.fun bonding curve and the token’s metadata.
  • Coin age and market cap: Jupiter’s token data.
